iLight: illuminating the way to more assistive healthcare

Our European Union funded project has completed its first trimester and had its subsequent community meeting. We were honoured to hold the meeting at our headquarters, alongside our Spanish partners Innovatec and our local partners from Politehnica University of Bucharest and present our findings and possible areas of evolution in creating a pervasive home monitoring system based on intelligent luminaries.

The goal of this project was to create assistive technology that would provide the elderly with more independence, with the peripheral support from family, friends, and caregivers. This would be done using a cyber-physical system via a wireless network of sensors deployed as intelligent, energy efficient devices of illumination. The conclusion would be a pervasive, seamless, inexpensive and easily installed home monitoring system using primarily existing illumination devices and replacing a minimal amount with their intelligent alternatives.

Since 2006 when Info World entered the field of national and internationally funded projects, it has gained notoriety due to its consistent and innovative results in the e-Health. The iLight project needs the adaptive, intelligent and state-of-the-art support that Info World so readily provides so that they may illuminate the journey towards assistive geriatric healthcare technology.

Cyber Security Conference: Standardizing Europe

In April we participated in the European Atlantic Security and Security in Cyber Space Third Annual Conference. Our focus was on alerting the public to the General Data Protection Regulation 679 passed by the E.U., which comes into action in May 2018.
Regulation 679 is intended to strength and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union, but it also addresses the export of personal data outside the E.U. Due to our international experience, we have been lobbying for standardization in the medical field and we believe that this is the first step towards achieving said goal.
Health records hold incredibly sensitive information that can impact individuals, as well as researchers and it is imperative we give it the importance and security it requires.
