eTutor is a Learning Management System (LMS) - a web-based tool designed to deploy and manage the learning process.
Features
- Control: it offers control over both course availability and eligibility, providing multiple possibilities for the booking and tracking of learner activities. The LMS ensures seamless administration from both end-user and administrator perspective. The benefit lies in the ability to identify the learner skills immediately and accurately with little effort;
- Assessment: without assessment, it is impossible to prove that an induction course has imparted knowledge. As this is of utmost importance, the LMS makes use of an online assessment database. To maximize security, every learner's assessment is unique, as the LMS delivers a self-generated assessment to each individual learner, once the course has been completed;
- Tracking: while learning is only part of the management system, it can be a valuable source of information, but is seldom treated as such. The LMS can be tailored to provide organizations with trends identified by studying learner responses and interactions with the course. This elevates induction from not only training to learning, but also to intelligence gathering.

The OHSE (Occupational Health and Safety Environment) Induction Course is a highly interactive application that teaches every aspect of occupational safety. Info World designed this application under license from its South African partner.
Content
The content for the induction course is aimed at being as broad as possible, while remaining focused. It was developed by analyzing more than 2000 workplace accidents and incidents. It focuses on those workplace hazards which are most prevalent, based not on assumption, but on fact.
Interactivity
Involves all learners equally. In a typical induction course, participation is determined by external factors, such as familiarity with the facilitator or self confidence. The system ensures that learners complete activities in order to pass various unit assessments.
Assessment
As a minimum standard, induction has to satisfy the knowledge requirement of basic HSE competence. To verify this knowledge element, assessment is crucial. Our philosophy is that the assessment needs to be ongoing throughout the learning process.
With this in mind, the course is split into units, with an assessment at the end of each unit. Where a learner has been found to be not yet competent for the unit, he will not be allowed to access the next unit, ensuring that content is mastered.
Once the units have been completed at the learner's own pace, access to the randomized online assessment is provided through the LMS. Only once the final assessment is successfully completed, will the LMS certify a learner.
Navigation
To cater for the experienced and novice learner, the system makes use of two options when navigating content. One is to use the Forward and Next buttons, while experienced learners may use a navigation tree to achieve the same results.
