Imhotep is an internal project developed with purpose of facilitating the development of medical applications that comply with the HL7 standard and in accordance with the necessities of the end-user.

The persistence of data is realized over Hibernate; the objects, mappings and queries are created dynamically, based on the metadata created by developers.

Module Designer
Module Designer is the graphical platform that developers will use to create medical applications. This platform contains, among others, a tool for object design, a tool for query design, a tool for graphical interface design and a tool for report design.
The developed functionalities are enclosed in modules, which can be related through dependencies.

Object Designer
This tool allows the design of objects used in applications. The objects must be designed strictly related to the HL7 standard.
The object types that can be created are: Act, ActRelationship, Participation, Role, RoleLink and Entity. The developer will have the facility to use the fields and the association types specific to every object type.

Query Designer
The tool offers the possibility to design the needed queries. These queries will be created over the already created objects. The same like hibernate queries, the queries that can be designed with this tool can be object or non object queries. The decision to create one or another type of query depends on the necessities and both have advantages and disadvantages.

View Designer
This tool model the graphical user interface that will be presented in applications. The designer offers a complete set of controls and also a specific easy to use scripting language that can be used to realize actions or to link the objects to interface.

Report Designer
This designer can be used by developers to create advanced multidimensional structured reports.
