Info World, part of the project that aims at elaborating a document concerning the interoperability of information systems in hospitals and clinics with similar information systems in outsourced laboratories

Under the supervision of the HL7 Romania association, affiliated to HL7 International (www.hl7.org), a technical workgroup was created that aims at elaborating a document concerning the interoperability of information systems in hospitals and clinics with similar information systems in outsourced laboratories, based on HL7 standards, relevant for the Romanian health software environment.

Supporting this group are: InfoWorld, TotalSoft, Teamnet, Microsoft, the Medical College of Romania, the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest, the Technical University of Cluj, the POLITEHNICA University of Timisoara.

The association aims in the near future to offer support and recommendations to potential beneficiaries and competent authorities, as well as to other cases of health-related interoperability based on country-level-managed patient electronic health records.

Info World signs partnership with Spanish medical imaging company Alma IT Systems

On June 20, 2010, Info World concluded a partnership with Spanish medical imaging company Alma IT Systems, with the purpose of improving its product, IQPACS.

Alma IT Systems is a Barcelona-based Spanish company dedicated to the design and development of IT programs which provide medical professionals of diverse specialties to perform image diagnostic as well as pre-surgical planning with absolute reliability.

For the first time, this year, the Ministerial High Level Conference on eHealth and the World Health IT Conference and Exhibition are being held in the same week in a joint initiative called “e-Health Week 2010”, the most prestigious event in the European eHealth sector.

With more than 3000 delegates who attended the eHealth week, representing the majority of eHealth sector: ministers, members of the public administration, clinics, suppliers and managers of information and informatics systems, the eHealth week 2010 became the central European event of the year in the health IT sector.

During these high-level conferences, presentations of the latest technologies in on-line health, tools, applications and best practices were given. A platform was provided to encourage the development of on-line health services in Europe. Politicians, health administrators, researchers and suppliers, along with health professionals, met to share their experiences and to discover what is new in this fast-evolving area.

Info World was present at this event as medical software market leader in Romania, involved in technology transfer, international cooperation and technological development.

Participation on this event represented an opportunity for Info World to directly promote its services and applications, identify new business partners, find prospective partners for EU financed projects in eHealth field and, not least, to promote Romanian software worldwide.

IQPACS, Info World’s software solution implemented at the Clinical Hospital of Ortopaedics Traumatology and Osteoarticular TB "Foisor" Bucharest

Info World succesfully completed the implementation of IQPACS software solution – modules: ImageStore (image server), RadiVision (RIS/PACS broker) and Imago Pro (diagnostic station) at the Clinical Hospital of Ortopaedics, Traumatology and Osteoarticular TB "Foisor" Bucharest.

The Clinical Hospital of Ortopaedics, Traumatology and Osteoarticular TB "Foisor" Bucharest ranks among the 100 and more hospitals using Info World’s HIS - Hospital Manager Suite solution and it the 10th client for the medical image software solution, IQPACS.

IQPACS developed by Info World is a radiological information and images management system for medical imaging centers or radiology departments. This application is smartly engineered to efficiently handle the radiology workflow, help increase the volume of medical investigations and reduce costs by eliminating radiological films.

With a user-friendly graphical interface, IQPACS translates into the perfect tool for healthcare professionals users in their administrative and clinical daily routine.

IQPACS was developed for radiology with radiologists help. The large number of radiological images provided by next-generation devices has created the need to use a radiology information system to manage the large volume of information and streamline workflow.

With IQPACS system, representative images from imaging studies may be automatically transmitted to clinical image-viewing stations from operating rooms or doctor’s offices and can be directly attached to the patient’s EHR.

Remine - European project of medicine - has entered the final stage of development

Between 13-14 January 2010, representatives of the REMINE consortium - 16 partners from 12 European countries (Germany, Italy, Finland, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania) attended the quarterly working meeting at the Novotel Hotel in Bucharest.

The meeting was organized by Info World, the sole Romanian partner, and aimed to discuss project progress to date and to plan and schedule future tasks that consortium members will have to fulfill over the next months.

The project is worth EUR 7.6 million, is partially financed by the European Commission and started in January 2008 to be completed later this year.

The main purpose of this project is to support hospitals in risk management by reducing risks associated with the post-operative inpatient period.

In order to contrast the Risks Against Patient Safety (RAPS) trends and the widespread diffusion of health care malpractices, REMINE pursues several main objectives, which can be divided into two categories: technological and socio-economical.

  • A new technological platform able to perform an automated/semi-automated RAPS management and prevention.
  • A new set of organizational requirements for the healthcare processes which succeeds in producing new added value.

Romanian Computer Show (RoCS) 2009: Info World and parteners Intel Romania and Panasonic receive award for the first project of social medicine at metropolitan level.

Between 25-27 November 2009, Info World and project partners Intel Romania, Panasonic and White-Yellow Cross Foundation participated at ROCS 2009, the most important B2B event for the Romanian IT&C industry, organized by IDG Romania.

The IDG Romania Excellence Prize for „The first social medicine project at metropolitan level” was awarded to Info Word and its partners during the 2009 Excellence Award Gala.

This project aims to address the computerization of at-home medical services provided to discharged patients who are chronically ill but no longer subject to hospitalization. The final beneficiaries are people of all ages with special needs, regardless of pathology, which are discharged mainly from healthcare units subordinated to the Bucharest City Hall.

In addition to the resources already allocated by the White-Yellow Cross Foundation this project will provide the following components:

  • Call Center 24/7 for medical and social services;
  • Dedicated software solution;
  • PDA/Fly-books.

All data will be centralized by the Hospital and Health Services Administration of Bucharest.

Info World, Intel Romania and Panasonic – project partners’ common participation in the most important annual B2B event for the Romanian IT&C industry , ROCS 2009

Between 25-27 November 2009 the 15th edition of RoCS (Romanian Computer Show) was held in Bucharest at the Capital Plaza Hotel. RoCS is a traditional B2B event, is organized by IDG Romania and hosts most of the major IT&C companies in Romania.

Given the general economic situation and taking into account the particularities of the Romanian market, organizers proposed a special, answer-oriented, edition for this year, putting emphasis on debates and case studies, analysis and predictions which targeted major topics of interest such as virtualization, Green IT, ERP, CRM and BI, perspectives for 2010.

In this context, Info World and project partners Intel Romania, Panasonic and White-Yellow Cross Foundation unveiled a pilot project aimed at the computerization of at-home medical services provided to discharged patients who are chronically ill but no longer subject to hospitalization. The beneficiary of this project is the Bucharest City Hall, The Bucharest Hospitals and Health Services Administration.

Project Benefits:

  • Increases the quality of care through remote and real-time access at patient medical data;
  • Provides a secure and fast communication between medical teams;
  • Decreases hospitalization costs and average length of hospitalization and increases bed occupancy rate;
  • Increases patient monitoring and decreases the time required for emergency interventions;
  • Increases the quantity and quality of medical and social data collected at metropolitan level;
  • Offers the possibility of integrating and correlating data with other information systems of the Hospital and Health Services Administration Bucharest in order to develop a Data Warehouse able to meet current and future information needs;
  • Creates a social and medical dashboard at the metropolitan level, able to offer support for proper grounding and efficient medical and social strategies.

This provides a platform for medical and social services, which can be characterized by utility, flexibility, accessibility and performance, all at the highest level, meeting all the requirements for which it was created and bringing a significant social impact on the people of Bucharest.

Info World held a presentation at the „eGovernment: perspective and needs” event

On September 30, 2009, the “eGovernment: perspectives and needs” event organized by IDG Romania was hosted at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Bucharest.

The following topics were discussed: the present situation of informatization development in the Romanian public administration, the electronic government outlook for 2010 and ICT solutions for public administration.

Info World held a presentation on eHealth Programme - strategic component in the implementation of eGovernment policies, stressing the importance of Electronic Health Record and presenting Medipedia – Info World’s Medical Information Portal. The portal is an interface between patients, physicians and public or private medical institutions. Through the Medical Record module the user-patient is allowed to store and manage all information concerning his medical history so these data could be accessed anytime, anywhere, by persons authorized by the patient.

eGovernment guarantees a better relationship between citizen and public administration and pushes the envelope in providing efficient and quality services through information technology. One of the essential components of the implementation of these policies is the eHealth program.

From this perspective Info World provides modern IT solutions for the public health system with emphasis on interoperability, quality, efficient public services and better delivery methods towards the citizen.

The major goals of Info World’s solutions are: supporting the management of public health sector at the national level, improving the quality of health care services, monitoring and reporting performances, enabling citizens’ access to public health services and reducing costs and waiting times for those who deal directly with the public health system.

Info World - a constant presence at events dedicated to Healthcare

On March 18 2009, Info World had attended the conference "Oracle Healthcare Solutions for performance management of health care services”, organized by Oracle in partnership with Info World.

The event was held under the title "Partners who meet in Healthcare" and the audience consists of specialists and general practitioners throughout the country and over 70 executives of hospitals.

To the addressees, Info World and Oracle have introduced a set of products for decision-making support, in order to increase the quality of medical services and management support of the healthcare units.

General benefits of these solutions are:

  • Scalable and centralized platform, specific to healthcare;
  • Rapid implementation with minimal changes;
  • Covers the key performance indicators and quality care, and indicators of financial and human resources.

INFO WORLD – positive balance for 2008

Info World, provider of IT solutions dedicated exclusively to the healthcare field, registered in 2008 a turnover of 3.5 million EUR, with 15% more than in 2007. For 2009 the company expects an increase of the business for another 15-20%.

The company holds a market share of more than 40% relative to the total number of hospital beds in units of the public healthcare system in Romania. The customer portfolio totalized an increase of 35-40% over the previous year, mostly from the public domain.

In 2008 Info World has continued its existing partnerships, being involved in three major projects of the European Commission (FP7, eTen, Eureka): HEALTH Optimum (started in 2007), REMINE and ReTeMeS (started in 2008).

At the national level, Info World is involved in two projects funded by the Ministry of Health: "Supply and installation of a data transmission system for telemedicine in emergency situations" and " Software solution Hospital Manager - Budgets module”, beneficiary being the National Agency for Health Programs.

Also in 2008, a new project consisting in the implementation of a software system at the "National Center for Blood Transfusions” was started in the Republic of Moldova, and in the U.S.A. a project in the Department of State for Veterans.

For 2009 the company intends to become more involved in telemedicine projects, to find new opportunities and partners to participate in as many projects financed by the EU and further expansion on the international market and the private area of health services and health insurance in Romania.

Currently, Info World has 150 employees and do not intend to reduce the personnel. On the contrary, taking into account projects that are ongoing and plans for this year, intends to make recruitment of staff.

A step forward in patient – physician relationship through “Personal Health Record” hosted by Info World

It is well known that patients who are actively involved when it comes to their health enjoy better results.

To support them, Info World launched a medical portal: www.medipedia.ro.

What brings new this portal, compared to many such offers on the Romanian market, is hosting online the “Personal Health Record”.

This web application allows patients to collect and organize all personal medical information, from several suppliers of medical services in a single health record. Medipedia facilitates rapid and secure communication of medical information between patient and physician, critical to the prevention and treatment of diseases.

Each consultation, diagnosis or treatment recorded in the “Personal Health Record” can be subsequently accessed and viewed when needed.

Through this service, Info World is addressed to patients, family doctors, public or private hospitals and medical centers.

Info World in Morocco economic mission

Between February 6-9, 2007, Info World was part of Romania's economic mission in Morocoo.

Info World represented the IT healthcare industry a reprezentat and met Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, Minister of General Affairs, and Mr. Mohammed Cheikh Biadillah, Health Minister in the Morrocal Government. During this meeting, Info World presented the RNMC (Critical Healthcare National Network) project and Hospital Manager Suite (HMS), the hospital medical, economic and management software solution.

The Moroccan Government officials showed great interest in Info World's healthcare software solutions and invited company representatives to make a presentation of HMS at the International Universitary Hospital Cheikh Zaid in Rabat.

There were also meetings with private sector representatives, that were interested in collaborations in the eHealth sector.

As a result of these meetings, representatives of the Moroccan Government and of the Moroccan private IT sector will visit Info World in March and April for further talks.

Info World's participation at ROCS 2006

Between November 21-24, 2006, Info World took part at the 12th edition of ROCS (Romanian Computer Show), the most important B2B event in the Romanian IT industry, organized by IDG Romania.

The event was attended by a large number of IT and medical companies and institutions. Info World presented the CLINICAL NOTES  – Electronic Health Record Editor & Viewer and EVS – Medical Terminology Browser applications, in the "e-Health across Europe-8th edition" and "Content Management Solutions" sections, respectively.

Clinical Notes is an application based on the CDA (Clinical Document Arhitecture) standard, whose main purpose is to assist doctors and nurses in inputting clinical data into patient health records.
It can be accessed using a tablet PC through the wireless and mobile technology.
The application has a modular structure, grouped by medical sections (vital signs, diagnoses, laboratory requests, pharmacy requests, medical imagery requests, administered medication, etc).
It can be used standalone or integrated with the Patient Chart  application, which manages medical data of any type (medical documents and more).
The novelty of this application is the possibility of inputting patient clinical data by section. It can be configured such that only the sections necessary for a certain type of department or hospital are input.

EVS is an HL7-based application whose purpose is to facilitate the search and display of various sets of values, vocabularies and encodings, as text or graphics.
It, too, can be used standalone and integrated with other application through web services.
The novelty of this application is joining most medical terminologies and value sets. Moreover, it includes a 3D graphical module that enables interactive navigation for searching medical concepts and codes.

Both applications developed by Info World are built on the newest Microsoft Windows Vista technology.

At the event, Info World received, for a fourth consecutive time, the Excellence Award for healthcare software solutions, during the 2006 IDG Romania Excellence Awards Gala, as recognition for the value of Info World solutions implemented both in Romania and abroad.

Info World – participant at the "General Practice - Frontline in Medical Assistance" National Conference

The event organized by the Society of General Practice/General Medicine Doctors offered for debate, to more than 400 doctors present, topics with great interest towards the general practitioner's involvement in the medical act, the integrated approach of preventive services in primary assistance, the integrated electronic managenement of a general practice doctor's office.

At the exhibition center, compania Info World presented CabiMed, the software application for general practice offices.

CabiMed generates a significant decrease in the time and costs of managing the activities of a general practice office.

The application's functionalities and features aroused the interest of doctors attending the event, as they are aimed at maximizing the efficiency of general practice offices:

  • Features for application administration: user management, setting access rights depending on the user category;
  • Ability to store and configure data which define office structure (office data, medical or auxiliary personnel data); 
  • Ability to store all data with interest for the general practitioner in relation with his patients (whether medically insured or not);
  • Ability to transfer electronic patient information to third parties;
  • Automated generation of periodic reports imposed to general practitioners by current regulations;
  • Ability to maintain a system of doctor's activity planning (medical and personal) at application level.

Info World's integrated information solutions create an integrated system adapted to each medical unit, such that every piece of medical and financial information related to the presence of a patient in the medical unit can be found in the patient's unique Electronic Health File.

Info World, recipient of the Excellence Award for Best Achievement in 2006 – the Innovation section in integrating medical applications, BINARY 2006

Between October 3-7, 2006, Info World participated at the 9th edition of BINARY 2006 - the sole innovative technology fair in Romania, which took place in the Romexpo exhibition center.

The exhibition organized by the Romanian Association for Electronics and Software Industry (ARIES) - of which Info World is a member - BINARY, offers each year companies the chance to promote their products and solutions, and also to know each other and exchange ideas. The event was attented by many IT and electronics companies and institutions.

This year, for the National Awards for Best Software Achievement , Info World presented the DESnet application, part of the RNT - National Traumatology Network project, for which it received the Excellence Award for Best Achievement in 2006 – the Innovation section in integrating medical applications.

The DESnet medical application is a component of the RNT portal and supplies system users with access to a patient's medical file, under confidentiality and security conditions. The medical file of a patient can be accessed only in medical cases deemed critical by the general practitioner or specialist doctor, under the agreement and in the presence of the patient.

Info World – participant at the Microsoft Innovation Day round table

Info World, as Microsoft Gold Partner, participated on October 3, 2006 at the Microsoft Innovation Day round table, organized by Microsoft Romania as part of BINARY 2006 - the electronics and software fair dedicated to innovation and the Business to Business sector.

Along with representatives of Microsoft Romania, the event was attented by the Minister Zsolt Nagy, Alexandru Borcea, Chairman of ARIES, representatives of the press, and IT&C industry representatives partners of Microsoft. 

The main topics of the debate were the economic impact that the release of Microsoft Vista will have on the IT industry, the advantages and disadvantages of the IT market following Romania's accession to the European Union, innovation as catalyst for modernization and local exonomic growth, the investments that will be done for education, research and development.

Through its representatives, Info World was an active presence at the discussions and debates that took place, once more pointing out the importance of IT and its impact on the Romanian health system, following the country's accession to the European Union.

Info World – Romanian representation in the Republic of Moldova

Chisinau, September 12-15, 2006. Between September 12-15 2006, Info World participated at MoldMEDIZIN International Fair in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.

The MoldMEDIZIN/MoldDENT International Fair brought together companies from several countries, involved in the development of the health sector in the Republic of Moldova, along with local partners, whether hospital representatives or government officials. A large audience has constantly interacted with the participants.

Info World was present at the fair with the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute of Chisinau - the first health institution in the Republic of Moldova with an information system complying with European standards.

Within this institute runs Hospital Manager Suite, Info World's professional ERP for hospitals, capable of managing both economic and administrative flows, and patients, through electronic health records.

Info World software applications have been implemented at Rio Tinto (PLC)

Software applications developed by Info World have been implemented by the company's South African partner at Rio Tinto (PLC) - world-renowned multinational company.

The eLearning Health and Safety solution developed by Info World has been implemented by the company's South African partner at two mining companies - Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) and Palabora Mining Company (PMC) - owned by Rio Tinto (PLC).

Rio Tinto prospects, mines and processes mineral resources such as aluminium, copper, iron ore, nickel, zinc, lead, titanium, uranium, gold, silver, coal and diamonds. Company activities cover 40 countries worldwide, with powerful representation in Australia and North America and significant businesses in South America, Asia, Europe and Southern Africa. Rio Tinto has 40,000 employees, with net profits of $5.214 bn in 2005. The Rio Tinto headquarters is in London, UK.

Following the need for computerization of the South African public health system, Info World participated, along with its local partners, at the bid organized by the South African authorities.

After the evaluation of a large number of tenders, the consortium that Info World is part of has been placed on the short list, thus becoming a potential supplier of the integrated medical software solution for South Africa.

Info World – partner of the HEALTH OPTIMUM European project

Info World is a partner of the HEALTH OPTIMUM (HEALTHcare delivery OPTIMisation ThroUgh teleMedicine) European project, whose purpose is the management of telemedicine services - tele-laboratory, tele-care, tele-consultance.

The project is aimed at hospital doctors, that may benefit from support in taking critical decisions or in rare clinical situations, at general practitioners, that may establish difficult diagnoses or may decide whether the patient needs specialized assistance, and at nursing staff.

By using telemedicine services, workflows in hospital units are optimized, medical care costs are cut, efficiency increases and, with it, hospital productivity.

The project brings together companies from Italy, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden and Romania and is a starting point for regional-level computerization.

Within this project, Info World will supply the hospital management platform Hospital Manager Suite and the medical imaging solution IQPACS. These will run in both public and private reference hospitals, partners in the HEALTH OPTIMUM.
