Built on the forthcoming technology from Microsoft that will be integrated in Windows Vista, eTerms is a next generation terminology browser, mainly focused on providing healthcare professionals, health educators, pharmacists or medical students the tool to easily search and locate medical terms in CTS (Common Terminology Services – HL7) compliant sets of values and coding schemes. A great advantage of eTerms is that it uses an interactive 3D representation of certain concepts or parts of the human body, allowing the user to rotate, move, zoom in and out the visual model, and go deeper inside the hierarchy until he reaches the required concept or diagnosis.

The information is displayed using a hierarchical view, so it can be logically grouped and easier to work with, and each concept is detailed with collapsible regions, so that only the information necessary to the user remains on the screen.

The user can search for a specific concept either in the current set of values, or within the values displayed on screen, making it extremely easy to find what he is looking for.

The main advantage of eTerms is that it can be used both as a stand-alone application or it can be integrated and can communicate, based on the received queries, with any CTS-compliant application, all of that using a rich, friendly and sinkable next-generation user interface.
